Next stop: Experience Izumo Mythology and Traditional Culture, with a Break in a Daimyo Garden and TeahouseAbout this spot
A shopping street lining the approach that continues from Izumo Taisha's great Seodamari Torii Gate, a classic street lined with Izumo-style souvenirs and light snacks. You'll find items unique to Izumo, such as bite-size tastes of Izumo soba, matchmaking-themed Japanese sweets, and magatama bead accessories. Enjoy street food and window shopping while savoring the afterglow of your shrine visit. Izumo soba is a specialty of this area, so it's worth trying a light taste. Since a proper dinner is planned later at the roadside station, it's best to keep things light here.
Tips
A shopping street continuing from just outside Izumo Taisha's great Seodamari Torii Gate, within walking distance. Buying your souvenirs early and dropping them off at your accommodation or car lets you move around lightly for the rest of the evening. From evening onward, the street gets crowded with fireworks-festival visitors.
Best time to visit
About 50 minutes. Right after your shrine visit, in the afternoon, is a calm and easy time to walk around.
