The Gonokawa River, known by the alternate name "Chugoku Taro," originates in the Chugoku Mountains and flows into the Sea of Japan, making it the largest river in the Chugoku region. In the Kasuhuchi district of Misato Town, the river widens and flows with a gentle current, while the green mountains closing in on both banks and the clear water surface create a beautiful landscape. Walking down to the riverbank where tonight's fireworks will be launched during the daytime will help you imagine your evening viewing location. The riverside in summer has pleasant breezes and is also a good place for children to touch the water and cool off.

2026年8月1日(土)20時、粕渕の江の川河原から約3,000発の花火が打ち上がります。中国山地の山々に四方を囲まれた地形が音を反響させ、打ち上げのたびに体に響く迫力は山間の花火大会ならではのものです。川面に映る逆さ花火の美しさも見どころのひとつで、川幅の広い江の川がもうひとつのスクリーンになります。約30分のプログラムは凝縮感があり、次々と色とりどりの花火が夜空を染めていきます。静かな山あいの町に年に一度だけ咲く大輪の光を、家族みんなで河原から見上げましょう。
Tips
荒天時の開催可否は美郷町の公式発表で当日確認してください。終了後は帰路の車が一斉に動き出して周辺道路が混み合うため、花火終了後はしばらく河原でゆっくりしてから移動するのがおすすめです。河原は暗いため、足元をライトで照らしながら安全に移動しましょう。
Tips
You can approach the river from roads along the riverbank in the Kasuhuchi district. In summer, the river current can become faster, so keep children in sight while near the water. The sun is strong during this time, so don't forget a hat and sunscreen. Take a walk to also confirm tonight's viewing location.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour required. In afternoon light, the river surface sparkles beautifully and is very photogenic.
