For one hour from 8pm on Saturday, July 18, 2026, fireworks color the night sky above Aibahama Park in Tokushima City. At this riverside venue, unique to Tokushima, the City of Water, crisscrossed by the Yoshino River system, the fireworks that launch are reflected on the river's surface, creating a fantastical scene where light shimmers in both the sky and the water. Amid the cool night breeze off the water, the powerful boom of each launch echoing off the river's surface combines with the reflections to create a sense of presence quite different from an urban fireworks display. The moment the sky lights up bright with the finale's rapid-fire bursts makes for the perfect close to this day.

Tips

Check the event's official announcement in advance regarding cancellation in case of severe weather. Afterward, the surrounding roads and the area around Tokushima Station get extremely crowded, so it's recommended to relax in the park for a while after the fireworks end before heading out. Some areas can be dark underfoot on the way back, so a small light is reassuring. Be sure to take your trash with you.

Best time to visit

Time it to the 8:00pm-9:00pm show. Being seated 15-20 minutes before the start, in a spot where you can also see the river's surface, lets you enjoy the reflections as well as the fireworks themselves
