Around the shrine grounds, preparations proceed for announcing the names of those dedicating the fireworks, building anticipation for the evening. After sunset, move to the hillside viewing area and secure your spot with a leisure sheet before the performance begins.

片貝まつり浅原神社秋季例大祭奉納大煙火は、毎年9月9日・10日（2026年は9月11日・12日）に小千谷市片貝町で行われる日本有数の奉納花火大会です。世界最大級の四尺玉（直径約120cmの玉が打ち上げられ、開花直径約800mに達する）を含む花火が、浅原神社裏手の丘陵地から次々と夜空へ上がります。商業的なショーではなく、地元の住民や出身者が家族の喜び・節目・追悼などそれぞれの思いを込めて花火を「奉納」する形式が最大の特徴で、打ち上げのたびにアナウンスで奉納者の名前とメッセージが読み上げられます。山里に響き渡る重低音と、観覧する地元の人々の静かな感動が混じり合う空気は、この大会でしか味わえないものです。2日間合計で約15,000発が打ち上げられます。
Tips
会場は浅原神社裏手の丘陵地で、観覧は無料です。ただし周辺は交通規制が敷かれ、シャトルバスや指定駐車場の利用が原則となるため、小千谷市公式サイトで最新の交通案内を必ず確認してください。帰路は終了後に観覧客が一斉に移動して大変混雑するため、時間に余裕を持った計画を。9月の山里の夜は気温が下がるので、羽織ものは必携です。
Tips
Katakaicho is approximately 15 minutes by car from downtown Ojiya. On the festival day, traffic restrictions are implemented, and use of shuttle buses and designated parking areas becomes necessary. Always confirm the latest traffic and parking information beforehand via Ojiya City's official website or the festival's official announcement. Complete your stall meal early and settle into your viewing spot by 7:00 PM for the ideal experience.
