A historic park established in 1873, located in the heart of Niigata City. The spacious grounds feature a large pond and lush forest, with lotus flowers gracing the water's surface in summer. The park has been selected as one of Japan's 100 Best Urban Parks and has long been cherished by local residents as a place of respite. The adjacent Hakusan Shrine allows you to enjoy both park strolling and shrine visits in one outing—another appealing feature. During the Niigata Matsuri period, the park surroundings fill with lively atmosphere, offering open and welcoming energy fitting for the start of the day. Tips

About 15 minutes by bus from Niigata Station; get off at the "Hakusan Park-Mae" (Hakusan Park) bus stop. Admission is free. Many benches are available in the park, allowing you to rest in the shade and explore at a comfortable pace on hot days. The adjacent Hakusan Shrine is accessible on foot from the park, so visiting both in succession is convenient.

Best time to visit

Approximately 1 hour 15 minutes required. The late morning to afternoon hours are relatively cool and pleasant for strolling.
