The Shinano River embankment near Showa Bridge is the main viewing area for Niigata Matsuri Fireworks Festival. Spectators begin gathering from evening onward, spreading leisure sheets along the embankment. The time spent enjoying dinner procured from Bandai Citai while being swept by river breezes as you wait for the show is truly special. The vast Shinano River's water surface, shifting in color from orange to deep indigo as evening deepens, is spectacular in itself. Identifying restroom locations and surrounding pathways while it's still light makes for a comfortable evening.
Tips
About 15–20 minutes' walk from Bandai Citai. On festival day, spot reservations begin early, so ideally arrive at the embankment by 5 PM. Portable restrooms will be set up nearby, but expect lines at night, so use them earlier. Beverages are best procured from Bandai Citai.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour 25 minutes required. The Shinano River's twilight scenery around sunset is particularly beautiful throughout the day.
