The vast Shinano River's water surface, shifting in color from orange to deep indigo as evening deepens, is spectacular in itself. 新潟まつりのクライマックスを飾る花火大会で、信濃川河畔の昭和大橋周辺を会場に、2026年8月9日(日)19時20分から20時20分にかけて開催されます。日本一の大河・信濃川を舞台に夜空へ打ち上げられる花火は、広大な川面に映り込む光の帯とともに、都市型の花火大会ならではのスケールと美しさを見せてくれます。新潟まつりは住吉行列・民謡流し・花火大会の三本柱で構成される新潟最大の夏祭りであり、花火大会はその締めくくりにふさわしい華やかさを持ちます。川沿いに吹く夜風の中で見上げる1時間は、夏の新潟の記憶として長く残ることでしょう。
Tips
荒天時の開催可否は新潟まつり実行委員会の公式発表で確認してください。終了後は周辺道路と公共交通が大変混み合います。会場から新潟駅方面へは、フィナーレ直後を避けてしばらく河川敷で余韻を楽しんでから移動するのがおすすめ。帰りのバスや電車の時刻は事前に確認しておきましょう。足元が暗い箇所があるため、スマートフォンのライトを活用して安全に帰路へ。

About 15–20 minutes' walk from Bandai Citai. On festival day, spot reservations begin early, so ideally arrive at the embankment by 5 PM. Portable restrooms will be set up nearby, but expect lines at night, so use them earlier. Beverages are best procured from Bandai Citai.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour 25 minutes required. The Shinano River's twilight scenery around sunset is particularly beautiful throughout the day.
