Okinawa's largest museum and art museum, located in Naha Shin-toshin (Omoromachi). The museum department systematically displays Okinawa's nature, archaeology, history, folklore, and artistic crafts, offering lessons ranging from the history of the Ryukyu Kingdom to Okinawa's marine life. The building features a unique design inspired by gusuku (Okinawan castles), so even viewing the exterior evokes Okinawa's character. Learning about Okinawa's culture beforehand on the day of the fireworks festival deepens your impressions at the evening venue. Permanent exhibitions include displays suited for children, making it enjoyable for the whole family.

Tips

About 10 minutes' walk from Yui Rail Omoromachi Station. Admission to permanent exhibitions: ¥530 for adults, free for high school students and below. Closed Mondays—confirm in advance. Parking available. Taking the bus is convenient to reach the Ginowan area.

Best time to visit

Approximately 1 hour 30 minutes required. The late morning to early afternoon hours right after opening are relatively uncrowded, allowing leisurely viewing.
