View the Castle Ruins Built as a Residence for Tokugawa Iemitsu and the Reconstructed Corner Turret

About this spot

The ruins of Minakuchi Castle, built in the early Edo period as a residence for Tokugawa Iemitsu, the third shogun. Now developed as the Minakuchi Castle Museum, the stone walls and reconstructed corner turret evoke the castle's former appearance. Open as a castle ruins park, you can stroll through the greenery along the moat while reflecting on Koka's history. The museum displays historical materials of the Koka region and castle models in a compact yet substantial way. It's also a good spot to rest indoors during the hot afternoon hours.
