Aichi River Riverbed Plaza
Flow of the course
About this spot
The riverbed of the Aichi River flowing through Aizushi Town serves as the main venue for the Gion Natsuzuki Festival. As evening approaches, food stalls begin lining the area, spreading the local festival atmosphere along the riverbanks. To secure a good viewing location, it is advisable to arrive at the venue at least 2 hours before the fireworks begin and spread out your leisure sheet. The time spent waiting while enjoying food stall meals and feeling the river breeze is itself a precious moment of the festival day. As daylight fades, the water's color changes, heightening anticipation for the fireworks.
Tips
Within walking distance of Ōmi Railway Aichi River Station. On the fireworks day, surrounding roads become congested, so public transportation is recommended. Locate restroom facilities early. Popular food stall items may sell out quickly, so acquire dinner early. Bring plenty of drinks.
Best time to visit
Approximately 2 hours required. Before sunset, the riverside breeze feels pleasant and refreshing.
