The Motomiya Mizuiro Fireworks, held on Sunday, July 19, 2026, are launched from the Abukuma River riverbed near Nakajo in Motomiya City as part of the 20th Motomiya City Summer Festival (July 18-19). Living up to the name Mizuiro (water-blue), the sight of the fireworks' light reflected on the river's surface blending with the blue of the water is a beauty unique to this venue. The sound echoes across the basin-shaped terrain surrounded by mountains on all sides, and the impact felt in your body is exceptional. In the open space of the riverbed, the fireworks feel close, giving the whole family a powerful experience of looking up at the grand bursts. Fireworks launch begins at 7:30 p.m. (per Motomiya City official information). In case of bad weather, it will be postponed to Sunday, July 26. Viewing is free, but paid viewing tickets (advance and same-day) are also sold. After it ends, roads and parking around the venue get very crowded. It's recommended to enjoy the afterglow at the riverbed for a while after the fireworks before heading home at a staggered time. Prepare a small light, as the footing will get dark.

Secure your viewing spot 20-30 minutes before the launch begins at 7:30 p.m. A position with a view of the river's surface also lets you enjoy the fireworks reflected on the water
