Admire the Landscape of the Lagoon and Sandbars Selected as One of Japan's Hundred Best Beaches, and Enjoy the Ocean Breeze
About this spot
Matsukawa-Ura (松川浦), stretching along the east side of Soma City, is a lagoon separated from the Pacific Ocean by a sandbar and is protected as Matsukawa-Ura Prefectural Natural Park. Selected as one of Japan's "Hundred Best Beaches," its landscape of a calm lake surface, pine groves, and the Pacific Ocean beyond is beautiful and represents one of Fukushima Prefecture's premier coastal scenic spots. A paved walking trail runs along the shore, allowing you to enjoy a leisurely stroll while breathing in the scent of the tide. Matsukawa-Ura is also known for its active nori seaweed and oyster farming, where local food culture and nature are integrated. It is conveniently close to tonight's fireworks venue and provides an excellent opportunity to grasp the seaside atmosphere before evening.

Tips
Tips
Approximately 15 minutes by car from Soma Nakamura Shrine. The walking trail is paved and easy for small children. The sun is strong in this season, so bring a hat and drinking water. A farm stand and restaurants are located near the fishing port, making it convenient to stop for a break after your walk.
Best time to visit
Allow approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. The afternoon light reflecting on the lake surface is particularly recommended.
