Next stop: Approximately 8,000 artistic fireworks bloom in the autumn night sky and Omono RiverAbout this spot
The Omono River (雄物川) riverbank, stage for the Omagari Fireworks, features quiet countryside scenery during the day but becomes crowded with spectators from early on festival day. By around 4 PM, move to the riverbed, spread out a leisure sheet, and secure a good viewing spot. Enjoy dinner from food stalls or light refreshments you've brought while savoring the autumn evening breeze crossing the river and the changing colors of the sky. As dusk falls, temperatures drop rapidly, so don it warm clothing early. The sight of the Omono River bathed in sunset colors is an enjoyment unique to this pre-fireworks hour.
Tips
Approximately 15 to 20 minutes' walk from Omagari Station (大曲駅). On festival day, free and paid viewing seat areas are established, so check the official website in advance for viewing area regulations. Temporary restrooms are set up around the venue, but they're crowded before the show starts. It's reassuring to purchase beverages early.
Best time to visit
Approximately 2 hours required. The changing colors of the river and sky around sunset represent this time's greatest appeal.
