This shrine stands in the heart of Wakasa Town and has long been cherished as the local guardian shrine. The grounds are lush with green trees, and the pleasant shade they cast is perfect for cooling a body that's grown warm from an afternoon of sightseeing. Doyo Ennichi is a summer event of this region, and tonight's fireworks festival is part of that same summer-festival tradition. Pressing your hands together at the shrine before waiting for the fireworks makes the evening event feel all the more special. Tips

Within a few minutes' walk of the Wakasa-juku (若桜宿) streetscape. Visiting the grounds is free. Mosquitoes are common at this time of year, so using insect repellent before and after your visit will keep things comfortable. After paying your respects, head back toward Wakasa Station Plaza (若桜駅前広場) to prepare for staking out your spot.
