A sightseeing cruise boat that allows you to enjoy the Uratomi Coast—a nationally designated scenic spot and centerpiece of the Sanin Kaigan Geopark—from the sea. Upon departing Ajiro Port, dramatic sea cliffs, sea caves, and white-sand coves sculpted by the Japan Sea's rough waves over countless years appear one after another over approximately 40 minutes. The archipelago's picturesque beauty, also called the 'Matsushima of Sanin,' is stunning, and on clear days the highly transparent sea shimmers emerald-green, so clear that the seabed is visible. Onboard announcements highlight sights such as Natane Goshima and Kamogaiso, and the sight of seagulls living on the islands chasing the boat is a local specialty. The morning departure with calmer waves produces less rocking, making it ideal for photography.
Tips
Free parking available at the Ajiro Port boarding area. Operations depend on weather and wave conditions, so check the official website for the day's operational status before departure. Wind is strong on the deck, so remember to bring layering garments and secure your hat. If you're concerned about seasickness, take motion sickness medication 30 minutes before boarding.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour total (cruise approximately 40 minutes). Morning departures with calm waves and sunlight penetrating the water are recommended.
