About this spot

A base facility of Sanin Coast Geopark adjacent to Michi no Eki Kinansei Iwami. The museum offers extensive exhibits on the formation of the Sanin Coast, its geological wonders, and marine life. While enjoying the displays, you can learn why the peculiar rocks and dramatic cliffs you saw on the boat tour were formed. Admission is inexpensive, and it's a great place to cool off during the hot summer hours, making it invaluable for families with small children. On the day of the fireworks festival, you can use this time to reflect on the Sanin nature you've experienced throughout the day before heading to the coast. The staff explanations and exhibit panels are easy to understand, and adults will find plenty to enjoy as well.

2026年7月25日(土)20時打ち上げ開始、浦富海岸元気フェスティバル（いわみ花火祭り）のメインイベントです。山陰海岸国立公園の絶景の中、約3,800発の花火が日本海の夜空に次々と開きます。波の音が絶え間なく続く砂浜から仰ぐ花火は、都市部の大会とはひと味違う静けさと迫力が同居する特別な体験。大輪の花火が砂浜に座る人々の顔を照らすたびに、波のざわめきと歓声が混ざり合います。山陰の夏の夜の涼しい海風を感じながら、家族でゆっくりと空を見上げる時間は、夏の旅の記憶として長く残るはずです。

Tips

荒天時の開催可否は大会主催者の公式発表で確認してください。終了後は会場周辺の道路と駐車場の出口が混雑するため、花火終了後しばらく砂浜で余韻を楽しんでから帰路につくと渋滞を避けやすいです。足元が暗くなるので帰りのライトを忘れずに。岩美駅方面へのルートは事前に確認しておきましょう。

Tips

Located adjacent to Michi no Eki Kinansei Iwami, so you can drop by right after lunch. Admission is approximately 200 yen for adults (verify beforehand). Check the facility's official information for closing times in advance. Workshops and other events may be held during summer vacation. The drive to Uranotomi Beach afterward is about 5 minutes.
