Konotomo no Hama Seawater Bathing Beach in Karatsu City is affectionately known as "Caranko Beach" for its inlet-shaped geography. In 2026, it will be open from July 1 (Wednesday) to August 31 (Monday). The inlet embraced by steep cliffs features transparent water, allowing you to enjoy sea bathing amid the dynamic landscape characteristic of the Genkai Nada. Swimming is free. Restrooms and free shaded huts are available, so you can rest in the huts during strong sunlight hours. There are four cold-water showers for each gender, using a 100-yen coin return system that's easy to use. Enjoy summer fully in the clear seawater of the rocky beach until evening.

Tips

There are no changing rooms, so it's recommended to wear your swimsuit at home or in your car before arriving. For showers, bring extra coins since they operate on a 100-yen coin return system. With many rocks on the beach, beach sandals or water shoes to protect your feet make it more comfortable. Since shaded huts are limited in number, bringing a parasol during strong sunlight hours is also recommended.

Best time to visit

After 1:30pm, the afternoon hours become more comfortable as the shade from rocky areas increases
