An ancient shrine situated just beside Kawakami Gorge Hot Spring, known as the chief shrine of the province of Hizen. Believed to enshrine the river goddess, the grounds are surrounded by trees and enveloped in a tranquil atmosphere. There are many sights to see, including the main hall reached by climbing stone steps and large trees with centuries of history. This peaceful setting is perfect for a serene morning visit before enjoying the lively pool activities. The proximity to the hotel makes it easy to visit right after getting ready.

Tips

The grounds feature stone steps and gravel paths, so carrying your child in a sling or wearing sturdy shoes is safer than using a stroller. Summer mornings here are pleasant with comfortable shade from the trees. Since worship takes a short time, arriving early in the morning allows you to move to the next forest park with ease and flexibility.

Best time to visit

Approximately 30-40 minutes required. The late morning before the sun becomes strong is recommended.
