About this spot

An ancient temple of the Tendai Buddhist sect known as Mizuma Kannon, this sacred site has long gathered the faith of local people as a guardian against misfortune. The temple grounds feature a main hall and three-story pagoda, and the verdant approach is characterized by plenty of shade even in summer, making it easy to walk. Close to the terminal station of the Mizuma Railway, Mizuma Kannon Station, you can experience the atmosphere of a temple deeply rooted in local life. Before heading to the beach, start your day by paying respects here for a safe journey.

Tips

About a 10-minute walk from Mizuma Kannon Station on the Mizuma Railway. The temple grounds feature a paved approach path that is easy to navigate even with a baby carriage. Though there is plenty of shade in summer, remember to stay hydrated.
