About this spot

The old townscape remaining in the Iwase district (岩瀬地区), a port town that flourished with kitamaebune trade from the Edo through Meiji periods. Omachi Street (大町通り), lined with heavy wooden structures, preserves the character of its merchant warehouse past and conveys a calm, port-town atmosphere simply through strolling. Located near the beach, it's a convenient stop for morning sightseeing. Take your time walking while enjoying the historic townscape.

Tips

Some streets have narrow passages, so it's recommended to proceed slowly with a baby carriage. Summer has little shade, so don't forget a hat and water.

Best time to visit

Approximately 45 minutes required. Morning hours have fewer tourists, allowing for a calm walk.
