About this spot

This is a municipal general park spreading through central Ube, centered on Lake Tokiwa, with an expansive lawn plaza and promenades. The park has an outdoor sculpture area permanently displaying works by sculptors from Japan and abroad, making it a distinctly Ube space where you can encounter art while strolling. The lakeside promenade has plenty of tree shade, keeping the environment relatively comfortable even in midsummer. It's also popular with local families enjoying a leisurely picnic, making it a pleasant place to start the day's walk. The lawn plaza also has plenty of space for children to run around.

Tips

About a 15-minute walk from Ube-Shinkawa Station, or convenient to reach by car with ample parking. Admission is free. Bringing your own food and drink is allowed, so it's reassuring to either pack a lunch or pick one up near the park. Shaded benches are popular, so secure a spot early.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour 30 minutes. It's recommended to enjoy the lakeside greenery and sculptures in the bright hours just after noon.
