Explore the historic park at Kofu Castle ruins with remaining stone walls
About this spot
"Maizuru Castle Park (舞鶴城公園)", spreading south of Kofu Station, is a historic park developed on the site of Kofu Castle, which was built during the Edo period. The tallest stone walls in the castle and structures like the Inari Turret (稲荷櫓) and Iron Gate (鉄門), restored to their original appearance, remain standing. Climbing to the castle keep foundations offers sweeping views of the Kofu Basin and surrounding mountain ranges. With abundant greenery and shade throughout the park, it's relatively cool and easy to walk even on summer mornings. Stone steps and open areas provide plenty of space for children to run around. It's an ideal spot for families to lightly start their day while touching on history.
