The outdoor sub pool at Morioka Municipal General Pool (盛岡市立総合プール), open in 2026 from Wednesday 1 July to Sunday 6 September, 10:00 to 17:00. Along with a proper 25 m pool it has a diving pool, so it suits everyone from children who want to swim seriously to little ones who just want to splash. An indoor pool adjoins it, which is reassuring: if the weather changes suddenly you can keep playing. It is also cherished as a summer training ground for local children, so you can spend a full day around the water on a lively poolside. Easy to reach from the city centre, it also suits a day trip with the family.

Tips

Admission is 1,050 yen general, 600 yen for high school students and 450 yen for junior high age and under. It closes at 17:00, so having your last swim in the 16:00 hour at the latest and allowing time to change is reassuring. The indoor pool is also available, so it is worth planning to move there if the weather turns suddenly.

Best time to visit

Arriving at 12:00 secures a spot before the peak crowd and lets you play fully until closing at 17:00
