Next stop: A bit of play before the pool on the spacious lawn and playground equipmentAbout this spot
This waterfall is located in Tokura, Akiruno City, next to Ishifune Bridge (石舟橋) in the Akigawa Valley (秋川渓谷). Ishifune Bridge (石舟橋) is a 96-meter-long bridge spanning the Akigawa River (秋川) within Chichibu-Tama-Kai National Park (秩父多摩甲斐国立公園), and from the bridge you can take in views of the valley. About a 5-minute walk away is Akigawa Keikoku Seotonoyu (秋川渓谷 瀬音の湯). As a way to ease into the day before entering the pool, walking while listening to the sound of the river in the cool morning air also builds anticipation for the day ahead.
Tips
The path down to the riverbed from the foot of the bridge has some slippery spots, so easy-to-walk shoes are recommended over sandals. If you plan to play in the water, bringing an extra set of clothes makes it easier to head straight to the pool afterward. Parking lots are scattered around the area, so during busy periods, be prepared to walk a bit from a nearby spot.
Best time to visit
About 45 minutes. Mornings, before the temperature rises fully, are cool and easy for walking.
