This outdoor pool in Okinawa City is open in 2026 from Friday, May 1 through Wednesday, September 30, from 9am to 7pm. It's a Japan Swimming Federation-certified pool measuring 50m x 23m with a water depth of 1.4–1.8m and 9 lanes, and the same water surface used for competitions is normally open to the public. Its long season is a real appeal — in Okinawa, you can start swimming much earlier than on mainland Japan. The same facility also has a year-round 25m pool with a retractable roof, so you can choose based on the weather or how you're feeling. Rates are affordable at ¥270 for general admission and ¥130 for children/students (both for a 2-hour session), making it another happy point that it's easy to use leisurely from afternoon into evening.

Tips

Use is on a 2-hour rotating shift system, so if you want to stay longer, you may need to re-enter and pay the fee again. The sunlight is strong, so reapply sunscreen frequently and be sure to take breaks and stay well hydrated. Since closing time is 7pm, it's reassuring to wrap up by 5pm or 6pm at the latest to leave time to pack up.

Best time to visit

Entering during the 12 o'clock hour lets you secure a spot before the crowd peaks, so you can play longer into the evening.
