About this spot

This nationally designated scenic spot and natural monument is one of Amakusa's most iconic landscapes. The jagged rock formations carved by rough waves create an impressive coastline, and the observation deck overlooks the East China Sea. The striking contrast between steep cliffs and blue sea is perfect for photos and family memories. After viewing, head to a local eatery in the Oe area for lunch, then proceed refreshed to the afternoon beach.

Tips

Viewing is centered around the observation area with paved walkways—comfortable shoes are sufficient. Summer sun is strong, so wear a hat and sunscreen. Have lunch early at an Oe-area restaurant to leave ample time for the afternoon beach.

Best time to visit

About 45 minutes. The time just before noon offers relatively peaceful viewing.
