A garden and exhibition hall conveying the history of the Ashiya kettles (芦屋釜) since the Muromachi period

About this spot

Ashiyagama no Sato (芦屋釜の里) in Ashiya Town is a cultural facility conveying the history of the Ashiya kettles (芦屋釜), tea ceremony kettles hailed in the Muromachi period as the finest in Japan. The spacious Japanese garden is planted with flowers of every season, and walking it during the cool morning hours makes for a pleasant time. The casting workshop and exhibition hall in the grounds introduce the techniques and history of making Ashiya kettles (芦屋釜) in an accessible way, so children can view them with interest too. As a warm-up before working up a sweat at the pool, it is the perfect place to spend quiet, settled time.
