About this spot

A pure white lighthouse standing on a promontory just north of Usui Kasumiura Beach. Inside you can climb to the top and enjoy a spectacular view of Usui's sandy beach and the Pacific horizon below—a unique pleasure of this day's itinerary to gaze down at the sea you're about to swim in. Known for a monument to singer Hibari Misora, it's a beloved summer landmark in the local area. The elevated surroundings offer pleasant sea breezes, and early morning hours feature gentle sunlight, making it easy to walk about. Before ascending the lighthouse, reflect on the day of sea adventure ahead.

Tips

Within walking distance of Usui Kasumiura Beach. The spiral staircase inside is narrow; hold young children's hands while climbing. An admission fee applies. The observation deck can be windy, so secure hats to prevent them from blowing away.

Allow about 1 hour. Early morning offers gentle sunlight and easier climbing conditions.
