The Akita Prefectural Museum is a comprehensive museum that introduces Akita's nature, history, and folk culture in an easy-to-understand manner. On the grounds, there's the National Designated Important Cultural Property "Former Nara Residence" which has been relocated and restored, where you can view the old way of life. The museum is spacious and has plenty of exhibits for children, making it a popular learning spot for families even on rainy days. It's also a good place to spend some calm time before swimming.

秋田市の桂浜海水浴場は、2026年は7月18日(土)から8月16日(日)まで開設されます。遊泳時間は9時から17時ごろまでで、遊泳は無料です。夏の期間中は海の家が6軒営業する予定で、休憩や食事、シャワーなどが利用できます。駐車場は500台分と広く用意されており、家族連れでも車で気軽に訪れやすいのも魅力です。日本海の開放的な景色の中、波打ち際での水遊びから砂遊びまで、夕方までたっぷり夏を満喫できます。
Tips
駐車場の利用料は1日500円です。遊泳時間は17時までなので、着替えの時間を見込んで15分前には切り上げるのがおすすめ。夏の砂浜は日中とても熱くなるのでビーチサンダルが必須です。海の家では飲食や休憩ができますが、混み合う時間帯もあるため早めの利用が安心です。
Tips
About 20 minutes by car from Selion. The museum has air-conditioning making it ideal for summer breaks. The former Nara residence is outdoors, so a hat is recommended when visiting.
Best time to visit
Takes about 45 minutes. Morning hours are relatively less crowded and easier to visit
