About this spot

Katsuura Beach in Akita City will be open from July 18 (Saturday) to August 16 (Sunday), 2026. Swimming hours are from 9 AM to around 5 PM, and swimming is free. During the summer, 6 beach huts are planned to operate, offering rest, meals, and showers. The parking lot is spacious with 500 spaces, making it easy for families to visit by car. Surrounded by the open views of the Japan Sea, you can enjoy water play and sandcastle building at the water's edge until evening, fully savoring the summer.

Tips

Parking costs 500 yen per day. Swimming ends at 5 PM, so plan to wrap up around 15 minutes before to allow changing time. Summer sand gets very hot, so beach sandals are essential. Beach huts offer food and rest but can get crowded during peak hours, so early use is recommended.

From early afternoon onwards, there's plenty of sunlight for enjoying until evening
