About this spot

This historical park, built around the ruins of the former Takatoh clan castle, is listed among Japan's Top 100 Cherry Blossom Spots. While famous for its spring blossoms, summer brings lush green foliage and cool shade that locals cherish. The park preserves castle features like moats and ramparts, and viewing spots offer panoramic vistas of Ina Valley and the Central Alps (中央アルプス). The adjacent Takatoh Town History Museum provides insight into the area's heritage - a nice warm-up activity before heading to the pool.

Tips

Multiple parking areas surround the park. Summer can mean limited shade in some areas, so visiting in the morning before the midday sun is recommended. The history museum has a separate admission fee; if you have time, it's worth a visit.

Approximately 1 hour. Morning is coolest and most comfortable for strolling.
