The Katsura River's floodplain unfolds along the path from Arashiyama toward the JSDF Camp. A well-maintained riverside promenade allows leisurely walking while feeling the river's presence nearby. In summer afternoons, the breeze crossing the water is refreshing, making it ideal for strolling and resting. After walking through the temple gardens, refresh yourself in the riverside breeze.
Tips
From Tenryu-ji, walk or take a bus south along the riverside. Some sections lack shade, so an umbrella or hat is recommended. Footpaths are sometimes uneven, so comfortable walking shoes are advised.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour. The breeze becomes noticeably cooler as evening approaches.
