Historical walk at the foot of a Sengoku-era mountain fortress
About this spot
A mountain fortress ruins established during the Nanboku-Chō period, known during the Sengoku era as the stronghold of the Akai clan and as the site of Akechi Mitsuhide's campaign to conquer Tanba. Stone wall remnants remain at the summit (approximately 356 meters elevation) with sweeping views of Tanba's mountain ridges, but even a walk around the base allows full appreciation of the historic atmosphere. In the quiet green mountain valleys, you can reflect on Tanba's warring states history.
