About this spot

This old temple, known as a spot famous for autumn leaves, has grounds spreading along a mountain stream that stay vividly green even in summer, wrapped in a cool atmosphere. The approach leading up stone steps toward the main hall lets in pleasant light filtering through the trees, giving it a stillness fitting for the close of a temple tour. It's a spot where you can feel the rich nature of Okukawachi.

Tips

The approach has stone steps, so wear comfortable walking shoes. Even in summer, the area along the stream stays relatively cool and pleasant.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour. The afternoon, with light filtering through the trees, is especially beautiful.
