About this spot

This is a stretch of coast along Toyama Bay known for being celebrated as Ariso no Umi (有磯海) by the Man'yoshu poet Otomo no Yakamochi. With good weather, you can see the ridgeline of the Tateyama mountain range across the water, a grand view unique to Toyama, where the sea and mountains sit close together. Walking leisurely with your family through the sea breeze while reflecting on this historic place name makes for an especially refreshing moment in the day. The summer sun is strong, so take breaks often.

Tips

Within walking distance of Mizuhashi Fishing Port. Some parts of the coast have uneven footing, so easy-to-walk shoes are recommended. The sun is strong, so don't forget sun protection and to stay hydrated.
