About this spot
A museum located on Karasumaru Peninsula, themed around Lake Biwa's nature and the history of people's lives. The large aquarium allows observation of endemic fish living in Lake Biwa, and exhibits of fossils and historical daily life are extensive. Located on the very Karasumaru Peninsula where tonight's fireworks will be held, it's perfect to stop by as a preview of the festival venue.

2026年7月25日(土)16時から烏丸半島特設会場で開催される、琵琶湖の環境を守る願いが込められた伝統行事です。琵琶湖の水質浄化にも役立つヨシを使った松明に灯がともされ、日が暮れるにつれて湖畔は幻想的な炎の光に包まれます。19時50分ごろからは約1,000発の花火が夜空に打ち上がり、松明の炎と花火が重なるフィナーレは草津の夏を代表する光景です。会場では屋台も並び、夕食を済ませながら開演を待つこともできます。
Tips
水生植物公園みずの森から徒歩圏内です。会場周辺は夕方から大変混雑するため、早めに場所を確保しましょう。荒天時は内容が変更・中止となる場合があるため、当日の開催状況は公式発表で確認を。
Tips
Approximately 15 minutes by car from Yahashi Kihan Island Park. The museum has extensive exhibitions worthy of 1+ hours. It can get crowded during summer vacation season.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour 15 minutes. Early afternoon allows relatively leisurely viewing.
