Watch Reed Torch Lights and Approximately 1,000 Fireworks From the Lakeside
About this spot
A traditional event held from 4 PM on July 25, 2026 (Saturday) at a special venue on Karasumaru Peninsula, imbued with wishes to protect Lake Biwa's environment. Torches made from reeds—which also help purify Lake Biwa's water—are lit, and as night falls, the lakeside becomes wrapped in magical flickering light. Around 7:50 PM, approximately 1,000 fireworks launch into the night sky, and the finale where torch flames and fireworks overlap is a signature sight of Kusatsu's summer. Food stalls line the venue, allowing you to have dinner while awaiting the show.
