About this spot

This is the beach closest to Hitachi Station, with sandy shore and rocky tide pools scattered along it, where you can observe creatures like crabs in the tide pools at low tide. The water quality is good and the shallows are shallow, so even families with small children can play safely at the water's edge. Enjoy the open feel of the sea in the still-cool morning, before the port festival's day of liveliness begins.

Tips

It's about a 15-minute walk to Hitachi Station, and about a 10-minute drive to Kamine Park. If you're going to play in the tide pools, having shoes you don't mind getting wet is reassuring. Temperatures are relatively comfortable in the morning.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour. The cool morning hours are also comfortable for tide-pooling.
