This beautiful brick church is counted among the components of Hidden Christian Sites in the Nagasaki Region (長崎と天草地方の潜伏キリシタン関連遺産). It is said to have been built by believers who stacked the stones by hand, and it stands quietly blending into the peaceful island scenery. Surrounded by a small settlement and calm sea, it's a spot where you can feel the solemn atmosphere unique to this island of prayer.

Tips

It's about a 20-minute drive from Arikawa Port (有川港). When visiting, please be quiet and mindful that the church and settlement are places where people live. It's reassuring to check the visiting hours and etiquette in advance.
