One of the 12 existing castle keeps and designated a National Treasure, this is one of Japan's most representative castles. The castle keep with its beautiful black-lacquered wooden siding is also called the "Crow Castle," and its reflection on the moat water is a perfect photo spot. Inside the castle keep, visitors can see steep stairs and displays of historical armor and weapons that appeal to history-loving children. On clear days, the castle keep stands majestically against the ridgeline of the Northern Alps, a landscape worthy of Matsumoto's symbol.

荒天時の開催可否は主催者の公式発表で確認しましょう。会場周辺の駐車場には限りがあるため、早めの来場がおすすめです。終了後は帰路の道が混み合うことがあります。

Tips

About 20 minutes by car from Hiraidi Archaeological Site. The stairs inside the castle keep are steep, so wear comfortable walking shoes. During summer break, there may be queues for entry, so allow extra time.
