About this spot

This community hall in the Okada area of northern Matsumoto also serves as the district's community center. In addition to a large meeting room that seats about 50, it has a lecture room, an audio-visual room, and a cooking room, making it a hub for local learning and activities. Okada is a rural area centered on rice paddies and orchards, home to Okada Shrine, mentioned in the ancient Engishiki records, and Rokusuke Pond, said to be the birthplace of student ice-skating in Japan. As evening falls, night stalls for the summer festival line up here, so stake out a spot with a picnic sheet and wait for the sky to darken while you eat dinner.

Tips

About 15 minutes by car from Nawate-dori. Parking space is limited, so early arrival is recommended. It can get crowded during summer vacation, so allow plenty of time to travel.

About 2 hours 30 minutes. Enjoying the changing colors of the sky around sunset while you wait is recommended
