Panoramic sunset views of rust-colored rock face and Suruga Bay
About this spot
One of West Izu's representative scenic spots, characterized by distinctive rust-colored rock faces formed from rocks containing special minerals. At sunset, these faces glow golden in the fading light, giving the cape its name "Kogane" (golden). From the observation point, you can sometimes see Mount Fuji across Suruga Bay, making it one of the finest sunset viewing points in the Izu Peninsula. Well-maintained nature trails allow for leisurely family walks.

2026年7月24日(金)、西伊豆町仁科の堂ヶ島公園を会場に行われる堂ヶ島火祭りです。約3,000発の花火が20時25分から21時まで堂ヶ島の海上に次々と打ち上がり、日中に見た奇岩や島々のシルエットを夜空の花火が照らし出します。「伊豆の松島」とも呼ばれる美しい景観の中で見上げる花火は、西伊豆ならではの特別なスケール感です。海食洞めぐりや絶景をめぐった1日の締めくくりにふさわしい、夏の西伊豆を代表する花火大会です。
Tips
荒天時の開催可否は主催者の公式発表で確認しましょう。終了後は駐車場や道路が大変混み合うため、少し余韻を楽しんでからの移動がおすすめです。砂浜は足元が暗いのでスマホのライトで安全に。
Tips
About 15 minutes by car from Shishiro Island. Some parts of the trail have uneven footing, so wear comfortable walking shoes. Leave after 4 PM to reach the venue in time.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour required. The rock colors appear most beautiful near sunset.
