About this spot

A historic shrine, also called Izu's oldest shrine, with its main hall situated on a small elevation overlooking Shirahama Beach. The shrine grounds feature a large sacred tree and are enveloped in a solemn atmosphere. From behind the main hall, you can take in a panoramic view of Shirahama Beach, building anticipation for the fireworks festival about to unfold. Spend a quiet moment praying for the safety of the sea and the success of your journey.

Tips

About 10 minutes by car from Shimoda Aquarium. Admission to the shrine is free. The grounds have stone steps, so comfortable walking shoes are recommended. It is within walking distance to Shirahama Ohama Beach.
