Yoshitsune Park (義経公園) is located in the Minami 1-jō Higashi (南1条東) area, the venue for the Flower Festival. Colorful flowerbeds, azaleas, and cherry blossoms bloom around the fountain plaza, and the park is considered a signature spot for ‘Higashikagura, the town of flowers (花のまち東神楽).’ On the day of the festival, local night stalls line the area, filled with a lively festival atmosphere. Have dinner from stalls serving yakisoba and other local food while leisurely claiming your spot for the evening's fireworks. You can soak in the homemade feel of a summer festival bustling with locals even before the show begins.

Tips

Most food stalls accept cash only, so bring small bills and coins. Since the venue is along a wide road and open lots, a leisure sheet or folding chair will help you stay comfortable.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour needed. Around sunset is when both the stalls and the crowd are liveliest.
