About this spot

This shrine, revered for centuries as the Ichinomiya (first shrine) of Kazusa Province, is the representative shrine of Ichinomiya Town. The dignified main hall, which is even the origin of the town's name, is surrounded by a lush green grove and enveloped in a quiet atmosphere. Known as a deity of safe childbirth and matchmaking, it draws many visiting families. Before the seaside fireworks festival, start by paying your respects to the town's guardian deity.

Tips

About an 8-minute walk from Kazusa-Ichinomiya Station (上総一ノ宮駅). The grounds have plenty of shade, so you can visit relatively coolly even in summer. If you plan to receive a goshuin (shrine stamp), allow extra time.
