An Edo-period ironworks ruins registered as a component asset of the UNESCO World Heritage "Meiji Japan's Industrial Revolution Heritage: Iron and Steel, Shipbuilding, Coal Industry." The remains of "tatara ironmaking" that supported the Hagi Domain's iron production remain in verdant foothills, and following signage allows visitors to glimpse the former industrial landscape. In the quiet mountain air, you can touch the historical depth of Susa.
Tips
Since the ruins are spread outdoors, visit in comfortable walking shoes. Summer insect prevention is recommended. Admission is free, but reading guidance signs carefully is advisable.
