About this spot

Sato, Mikurajima's only settlement, is a quiet town where houses stand along the hilly terrain. Though Mikurajima is known as an island where you can swim with wild dolphins, the settlement itself has a simple and calm charm. This hiking course allows you to enjoy views overlooking the sea as you walk through narrow, winding slopes, letting you experience the lifestyle of a remote island.

Tips

Travel from the port by foot or shuttle service. Since there are many slopes, comfortable walking shoes are recommended. In summer, strong sunlight is intense, so don't forget a hat and hydration.

Best time to visit

Approximately 1 hour 15 minutes. The afternoon when the sun is less intense is easier to walk.
