Pay respects to the solemn burial grounds of the Sō clan temple with cedar groves and 123 stone steps
About this spot
A venerable temple founded in 1615 as the boddhisattva temple of the Sō clan, who ruled Tsushima. The temple grounds feature 123 stone steps with towering ancient cedars rising on both sides, creating a solemn atmosphere. At the top of the stone steps are the tombs of successive clan lords, a place where you can feel the weight of Tsushima's history. Even under the summer sun, the cedar-lined approach is enveloped in cool, refreshing air.
