A community-rooted summer fireworks festival held around Akasaki Kiku Port (赤碕菊港) in Kotoura-cho (琴浦町). Starting at 8:00 p.m., fireworks are launched one after another into the night sky over the harbor facing the Sea of Japan. Set against the clear night sky of a harbor town with few streetlights, the large fireworks stand out beautifully, and the sound of the fireworks echoing together with the waves has a different kind of impact than fireworks festivals in the city. As the finale to a day spent touring the Sea of Japan's beautiful coastline, look up at the night sky together with your family.
