A unique national landscape spanning about 4 km along Ine Bay with funayadori boasting the unusual first-floor boat garage, second-floor residence structure that is rare throughout Japan. Walking these streets, you can up close experience the unique lifestyle where a family's home front directly faces the sea. Some funayadori have been converted into cafes and souvenir shops, offering convenient rest stops during your walk. Take your time experiencing this rare fishing village landscape where the sea and daily life are inseparably intertwined.

Tips

The streets are narrow with slopes and steps, so comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Limited shade in summer; drink water frequently. A cafe using funayadori as a venue is perfect for a break.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour 20 minutes. As evening approaches, the temperature drops and walking becomes more comfortable.
