About this spot

Held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, this is the 17th Bankei Summer Festival Grand Fireworks Display, one of the fireworks events representative of a Sapporo summer. About 10,000 fireworks, one of the largest displays in Hokkaido, launch one after another from the slopes of the mountain-surrounded ski area. Thanks to the venue's bowl-shaped terrain, you can look up at the fireworks close-up and on a grand scale, a hallmark of this powerful display. It's a stunning finale fitting for the close of a day filled with nature-rich fun.

Check the organizer's official announcement on the day for whether the event will proceed and the launch time. The venue gets extremely crowded, so it's recommended to stagger your departure after the event ends. Hokkaido nights are cool, so dress warmly.
